Can't find you on the chart but airnav places you off the highway between Rosamond and Mojave. You are right about the rotor off that ridge. Was not too bad when I shot that pic, went from 9200 feet down to 8000 feet passing over Tehachapi. One year when going to the Rendezvous I lost 5,000 ft and had my ground speed drop below 40mph and watched a train pass me going through the pass and had to use both hands on the yoke trying to keep level. It was a rough ride.

The Taylorcraft fly-in was some what of a bust with only three Taylorcrafts able to make it, with one based at Reedley. Thursday they were forecasting winds for Friday 20 kt gusting to 30 so I thought I would wait until Saturday but as it turned out the winds died down (8kts when we landed) and I flew over Friday afternoon along with my friend Kevin with his Interstate. The weather was great after that except for the high clouds that Jim Meeker had problems with coming from Riverside. I think the forecast scared most people. Matt McFarlane who has a 1937 T-craft under restoration, came for dinner Friday in the company Cessna Caravan and another friend of mine based there came with his wife and had dinner with us.... so we had 8 for dinner which was nice. It was great fun even with the small turn out. We all laughed a lot as Ken Andrews has some interesting stories to tell.
Well in case you did not make it you have another chance to come to a one time fall event at Paso Robles, Sept 23th. The local EAA chapter is hosting the event just for the Taylorcraft group, which will include two air museum tours and a winery tour. As a bonus the Model T club is having their national event in Paso that weekend and plan to be out at the airport for some time. More on this later but save this weekend.
