Today I took the Taylorcraft over to a wonderful back country strip right on the continental divide in north central New Mexico.
Murrow Field, NM99, is a 4000' grass and dirt strip at about 7550' MSL. The owner Rol Murrow hosted a bunch of us New Mexico pilots for a breakfast fly in with good local green chili breakfast burritos.
The strip is a bit bumpy with a few prairie dog holes and small berms on each side, but the approach from the east is clear.
The weather was wonderful and about a dozen planes visited. I was the only Taylorcraft.
A view of the north ramp gives an idea of the terrain and shows about half the planes. There are wonderful hikes into the close mountains and a few Indian ruins can be found along the cliffs.
Turning and looking to the west beside my plane, the view of a few folks leaving will give a good idea of the runway.
All in all a wonderful way to spend a morning. This is becoming an annual event. Thanks Rol!
