  • Copperstate 2014

The Copperstate fly in is coming up next weekend Oct 23-25.
I am planning (weather permitting) to take my Taylorcraft this year. It is just a bit under 4 hours from my home base in New Mexico over to Casa Grande in Arizona.

Any one else planning the trip?

    Re: Copperstate 2014

    Copperstate was good, but hot!
It seems that I was the only Taylorcraft there.
But I had just shut down and not yet tied down when a couple of nice folks were already talking to me about their taylorcrafts back home.
My new wings got a lot of comment (all good! Thanks all!) and even the Stewarts Systems guys said that it was a good job. Lots of folks were interested in my experiences with the Syewarts Systems process and it was fun talking about what I did right and wrong. It was a good weekend sitting under the wing watching all the planes come and go and talking to lots of interested folks about the airplane. And of course, the high point is always sitting in the hot tub at the Holiday Inn in the evening drinking beer and talking airplanes.

It was a bit over 4 hours from Home In New Mexico over to Casa Grande on Thursday. Sunday had tremendous tailwinds! It is really neat to see 135 mph over the ground in a Taylorcraft. Only 3.5 to home.

Well, that's the last sunburn of the summer. We will all be waiting for the Cactus fly in in the spring back at Casa Grande to get the first sunburn of the year. Hope to see you all there.

It was good to see you again at Copperstate. I was the guy that came in flying the white/yellow Monocoupe. We would of brought both the Coupe and the Taylorcraft but my wife had prior commits.

I did get over to see your bird and the wings looked read good to me. You weren't there at the time and would of loved to talk about Taylorcrafts. You are correct, it was hot! So we didn't stay long.

Weather/machine permitting I hope to see you at Cactus. The plan is, flight of two, Taylorcraft and Monocoupe. They match pretty close in speed.

I saw you take off from the flightline. Your Monocoupe sounds just as good as it looks. See you in the spring!

Skip, it would be fun if on your way to Cactus you stopped at Cottonwood P52. Then we could flutter on down to the Cactus fly in as a flt of 3. 2-Taylorcrafts, 1-Monocoupe.

Thanks for the nice words on the Coupe.
