Well... the old CASE mags are now part of history.
During the annual, the A&P IA checked the mags and found them to be completely unreliable...."fried" as he puts it. No wonder it took about 10 hand props efforts when cold and maybe more than twice that number when hot. The mechanic said that the mags were not putting our a continues spark on each revolution, missing spark....so they are now removed. He was surprised that I did not feel the engine missing, specially on take off.
So I'm looking for either Bendix or Eismans mags...Slicks are the last option at $ 2,364 (K4334 kit) at ACS.
I'm guessing that Fresno, Sky Ranch, would my first stop shop ... any others?... thanks.
and while I'm into the mags replacement, I will go with shielded harness and cups following this forum's information.
Any recommendation(s) where to start, prices, etc... will be appreciated.
Fall is here and would like to get back in the air as quickly as possible to enjoy the good weather before winter sits in.
