  • Luscombe for sale

I know this is not a taylorcraft but I was in Bardstown,Ky(BRY) yeasterday picking up a prop from a guy who was also selling a very, very nice Luscombe 8A. There is no engine or prop but pretty much everything else is there. It has been upgraded with metal wings(not metalized fabric but actual 8A metal wings and single struts). The paint is much better then average on the wings and fuslage but the wings are a little brighter white then the fuslage. It has thousands in new parts such as new SS cables, ball bearing pulleys, new landing gear legs, new fuel tank, new tires, new brakes, new gascolator, new tailwheel, new tailwheel spring, new steering springs, new rudder cable springs, new main gear shock spring, new cable fairleads, new exhaust crossover w/heat muffs, and all the insturments look like they have been recently overhauled but he never mentioned if they had been or not. The nosebowl and lower cowling show some signs of age but still better then a lot I have seen. There was also some very light handling rash on the stabs like most luscombe have but not as bad as a lot I have seen....tail AD's are complied with. The airplane was flying in 2010 until he had to take it down for an annual and found corrosion in the original fabric wings. He replaced them with metal wings and all the paperwork and mods have been completed on the upgrade. He also decided to overhaul the engine but from what I understand it didn't past inspections once it was torn apart. Ontop of that he encountered some health issues over the winter that have kept him down and now has made the decision to retire in Sept and move to Indiana where his kids & grandkids live. He is pretty firm at $9700 but if someone is looking for a straight, solid, good looking LSA flyer at a good price this is it. If you have an A65/75 laying around then this would be an excellent deal for sure. This is not a show quality airplane but is one of the cleanest corrosion free luscombes I've seen in a long time and he has done a lot of very extensive and expensive work on it over the past year or so. If you have an engine & prop I figure you can have it in the air in less then a week. Let me know if anyone is interested and I'll put you in contact with him. He sent me a couple pics of the airplane but they simply do not do justice to how it looks in person and the airplane was 5 times better in person then what he described over the phone....once again it is not show quality but still a very nice luscombe for the money and it is all metal for those who don't have a hanger. If its still there in a couple weeks I'll probably go back and get it myself.
