  • Going to Los Angeles, Nebraska, Texas and possibly Alabama

During the week of April 8, I'm going down to Los Angeles, Nebraska, Texas and possibly Alabama to pick up and drop off some airplane stuff. If anyone needs something moved, let me know. My friend has GMC diesel dually pulling a 22' flat bed trailer.

    Thanks,

    Carl Prather

Carl, going by Salt Lake City? If so, where then in Nebraska, I have a Taylorcraft wing sitting in SLC that if you get it to NE I could maybe pick it up there some place. L

        Larry,

The plan is to use I-80 which does go through Salt Lake City on the way to Lincoln, NE. We then go on to Texas, possibly Alabama, Los. Angeles and back home. If that works, let me know.

            Carl & Larry,
My hangar where Larry's wing is stored is about 20 minutes north of Hwy I-80 in SLC. Let me know when you will be passing through if that is what Larry wants to do.

                Terry,

Paul has a Piper fuselage to pick up in Texas but I don't know where. I'll pass this message along to him to get details. If we go to Alabama, it would
seem that passing through Texas is a certainty.

                  Terry,

The Piper Colt fuselage my friend was looking for has been sold. However, if you need anything moved, just let me know. I think you live near Kileen? The distance looping through Texas is only 100 longer that the straight shot home.

                    Larry,

Everything is a go. I called Steve Greene, the fellow whom I'm buying a Porterfield. He agreed to keep the wing in his garage for a week or so if we can't meet up exactly. I lost your phone number, so can you email your number and I'll call you? Once we talk, I'll call Brian to square away the pick up end of things and I'll give Steve's phone number. I would like to leave Friday the 6th which means we would arrive in Salt Lake City on Saturday then Lincoln on Monday. We can always be flexible if needed as we have 10 or 11 days to make the trip.

I was told by Steve Greene today that it's 85 degrees and windy in Lincoln!

                      Brian,

Could you call me @ 408-848-6480 regarding the T-craft for Larry? It looks like we'll be in SLC on Monday 4/9/12. I'll need your address.

Carl, I measured my bare wing at home and it will take a 2" spacer under both spars to make the ribs clear the deck. So I will bring a couple of two by fours laying on their side with a piece of blue foam on top. This will add the spacer I need and also will give the wing something to purchase so it does not slide so easy after tying down. Brian, is this time line gonna work for you? If so and they have room you may as well send my crate along too. Who knows I may have some ribs left over to ship to someone else some day. L

Yep... I spoke with Carl on the phone the other day. I will have your wing and crate ready for him to pick up on Monday 4/9/12.

                            Larry, Brian,

I should be able finalize the trip arrangements by tomorrow but it looks like we'll leave of Reno on Monday. I'll have the blocks pre-made to support the spars in order to keeps the ribs free from the floor below.

I'll call when we start out and update Brian for SLC then Larry in time for his arrival in Lincoln.
