I finally found the magic preservative so many tribesmen have been searching for! The name is "Amyl Guard" or also called "So Sure". The product is sort of alcohol based - the actual solution is TOXIC and Explosive.

You spray on two coats and it penetrates very well, and dries to a dry film which does not attract sand etcetera. We had to put this stuff on the bare metal parts of the Curtiss F6 as part of the contract.

The bad news is that it is $45 per spray can and minimum order was three cans.

You're wrong Mark. I like... the photos... I like knowing the spec for a good lubricant... not so hot on the price though. What are you planning to do with the left-overs? You could start a quick-lube service out of your T-hangar and charge people to fly-in to have a primo lube job on their Tcraft. ... Oh... and that F6 is lookin sharp! Thanks for the pics.

This stuff is NOT a lubricant! It leaves a dry protective film. It would be excellent on control cables. The Marines use it to protect weapons and ammo in long term storage.

You might check out Evershield from Stewarts. It's awesome stuff and non-toxic. Toughest stuff I've seen. I wiped it on my front end parts for my Harley in 1994, right after polishing and haven't touched them since.

Would you recommend that stuff for protecting polished mag wheels. I have used clear urethane in the past, but it is difficult to get a smooth coat on without runs in the nooks and crannies of the Shinn wheels.

It would protect the metal. but it leaves a faint yellow film, so probably a bad idea on the wheels.
