In a fit of authenticity this spring, I replaced my aluminum glareshield with an original-style cardboard glareshield cut from black textured panel board.
But my old one is still serviceable. My initial restoration mechanic John Frisbie of Udall, KS made it from aluminum, wrapped in Airtex "DT-77 Barley" vinyl to match the rest of my Airtex interior. Some of the vinyl needs regluing in spots around the edges, or you could easily peel off the tan vinyl and recover it with material in a different color.
I'll throw in the floorboard piece John made for the gap between the rudder pedals and firewall. It's also vinyl-wrapped aluminum. (I also replaced it with a more-authentic piece of black panel board.)
$20 plus shipping.
