  • BC12-D sliding windows & frames (inauthentic) for sale

Some previous owner of my plane removed the original interior window frames and installed these windows instead. I finally replaced them this spring with some original window frames and the correct windows.

Curved pieces of extruded aluminum channel screw into the top and bottom edges of the window opening in the door. The window pieces slide in the channels, without any felt strips (as with original window frames). The plexiglas window pieces are double the original thickness, at 3/16 inch thick. In the closeup photo of the channel ends below, the bottom piece is on the left, the top piece on the right.

These are not authentic, but they do have advantages. Both the front and rear windows slide (unlike the original rear windows glued in place to the frame), so you can slide the rear window open for a breeze across the back of your neck. And the bottom channel is a more comfortable, wider place to rest your elbow than the sharp edge of an original window frame.

You may not in good conscience remove functioning original windows to install these instead, as was done with my plane. But they're well made, look good, and work well, and may be just the thing for you if you're not concerned about authenticity.

$100 plus shipping for the four windows and four pieces of channel.

Sorry guns68, sold to Bob Gustafson of Rapid City, SD.

However, would you like some original BC12-D interior window frames, windows, and trim pieces for use as patterns? I got them from Kevin Mays and Mike Redpath, and don't have further use for them, so they'd be yours for just the cost of shipping.

I re-used the two best window frames, bought window pieces from Wag-Aero (although I subsequently found the exact same plexiglas at Lowes hardware for a fraction of that cost), and fabricated new aluminum trim pieces. Window handles, a close match to the originals, were 97 cents at Lowes.

Three window frames (one left and two right), four windows, examples of each of the three different trim pieces, two window handles.

Want them? PM me your mailing address and I'll let you know the postage cost after I mail them.
