  • Parts wanted for 1940 BC-65, open cowl

    Good day gents,
Since my grandson is old enough to take an interest, I decided to drag my old '40 basket case out of the back of the hangar to start the process of bring her back to life. I have been rounding up parts for about 10 years now and have most of the big stuff. The following lists the odds and ends I am still lookiing for:

    one round control wheel
    pre-war(unfiltered) carb heat box
right landing gear leg (tapered axle)
    Taylorcraft primer
    ignition switch
tail brace wires (I have the fittings)
    door handles
    throttle cable and knob
    instrument panel instruction plate
    engine cooling eyebrows or pattern

    Apprciate any help.
    Mike

    Hello Mike,
I looked at 3 landing gear I have left over in the shed. It was over Labor Day and have forgotten how many right side or left. If you remind me with an email about October 30 to November 3, I will be back out to the farm and check again for you. Can provide delivery also if you are not in a hurry. Will be traveling south in November. They are off BC12D and surplus to me. You will be surprised how cheap also. bzzt55@hotmail(dot)com N96175

Sounds like a plan. BTW, my dad's old '39 BL-55 is in Anchorage. Registered to a Steve Hensley. NC22625. He sold it in 1941. Probably an interesting story as to how it ended up in Alaska. If you want to stop in Indianapolis on your way to Florida, lunch is on me and I will take you on a tour of our new Rolls-Royce Regional Training Center. I teach Model 250 engine maintenance.
