  • 1966 Cessna 172 for $22,500!

    Tribe,
My cousin has dropped the price on his C-172. He had been holding it for a guy, done some more stripping to it installed new glass to suit the buyer and when it was all done and ready for the new owner to come get it he said "my wife won't let me buy it". So,it has all new .150(thick) green UV tinted glass installed, the horizonal stab was replaced with a newer one that eliminates the AD/SB which means it has the heavy spar on it fron the factory.Every nut and bolt in the tail is new. All the glass, seals, landing light lens, etc are new,and it is being sold with a fresh annual inspection. The new price is $22,000 and it is firm. This is a perfect fly anywhere airplane. It only needs paint or you can fly it without.

My cousin has found another airplane he wants to buy and wants to sell his Skyhawk quick. I listed this airplane back in the winter and I know a few of you were interested back then and the deal is even better now. It is in annual threw march of 2008. It has a shit-load of new parts. The paint is 95% stripped. It includes all new glass. It had been flying pretty regular but not as much since we started stripping paint in July. It has a little over 100 hours since overhaul,I'll have to get back to you on the TT but I think it is less than 3000.The engine is an 0300D. It has the old Cessna 300 IFR radios and both work GREAT! The #2 nav/com is a 360 channel so it is outdated but still works great. The #1 nav/com is a 720 channel with ILS. It has a perfect working AT50 transponder and a great working ADF.It also has a 2 place intercom that works when it wants too(always works thru the radio but doesn't always talk between pilot and co-pilot). It also has wheel pants and a child seat that mounts in the baggage compartment. Logs,337's,and all paperwork on everything is up to date, legal, and goes back to 1967.

Now for all the new stuff....it has new tires&tubes, new brakes, new elt,new plugs, overhauled mags, and all new glass(not yet installed but will install at no extra $$,but I would recommend waiting until the rest of the stripping is completed which could be done in a day or two by the new owner). I'm sure I am leaving some stuff out but you get the idea. This is one of the straightest flying 172's around.

Now for what is needs.....like I said, the paint is 95% stripped, the paint on the bottom of both wings needs to be finished stripped, most of it has been done but still needs a little bit more. There is also a little cleaning to be done to the belly, the paint has be removed but needs to be cleaned a little better. The horizonal stab has an AD so we didn't strip it,we have another stablizer to go on it which will be stripped and installed before you leave with the airplane. We have new elevator and horizonal tips for the airplane but the the plastic tips on the rudder and the wingtips are showing thier age, these can be included new but will need to be negotiated into the price. The only thing wrong with this airplane is some light hail to the top of the wings, horizonal stab, and elevators and the horizonal stab will be replaced before it sells so it will no longer be an issue, just the wings and elevators will so some light hail. This does not in anyway affect the safety, strength,or handling of the airplane. Except for cosmetics you'll never know its there and to be able to see the hail dents on the wings you have to get in the light just right looking straight down the length of the wings. The elevators show it a little more so then the wings.

So to sum things up,this is a fly anywhere airplane as is. I would recommend changing the windshield asap, which is included, because it has some hazing and paint stripper on it but can be flown safely. Everything works, runs, and flies great. You can paint it,polish it,or fly it as is. The price in $22,500 as is and includes all new glass(installed or not) and a rebuilt horizonal stab that eliminates the AD which will be installed before sale is completed. The airplane is in annual until march 08and we can deliver but we do recommend you come look at it before you ask us to bring it to you sight unseen.IF YOU BUY IT SIGHT UNSEEN THEN YOU PAY FOR IT SIGHT UNSEEN. I don't want to fly this thing half way across the country just to be left with the gas bill.

OR...for $30,000 we will finish the airplane with new paint, new plastic, new wing tips,etc,etc,etc.....you pick the colors you like best. If we finish it for you then we will ask that you come look, fly, and agree to buy the airplane and we can negotiate a fair non-fundable deposit. The finish price might be a little flexible but not much. The "AS IS" price mentioned above is firm.

Thanks Bob,she's one of two hanger cats I have around here.Very good company but a little over affectionate sometimes because one is always trying to rub around feet while the other thinks it has to be laying one my shoulders all the time I'm working.....I have the claw marks on my back to prove it.
