A friend of mine just put me in touch with someone who is selling what appears to be an intact 85 horsepower '46 T-craft rebuild project. It may NOT be ferriable due to low oil pressure, however the airframe is flyable and ferriable.
The good news is that he wants $10K for it, and it is not rusted out, bent, rotted, etc. No missing parts, it has been flying recently.
It is located in northern California, which is bad news for one particular fellow I know, but may be OK for someone else
The bad news is cracking, peeling, ringwormed disgusting, crunchy enamel paint. The wooden stringers are twisted and bent underneath, and it has been 15-20 years on the Ceconite anyway, so it is pretty much time for a re-cover. One repair on the lower rear longerons 20 years ago, documented and certified weld repaired.
Seller says he has the STC paperwork for the 85 horse engine, but cannot remember which of the modifications has been done to it. He knows he has the larger fuel line, but he doesn't know whether he has the spar bushings. I see this as a moot point because the wings will need to be disassembled and rebuilt anyway.
There HAS been routine mainteanance and 80-120 hours per year flown on it. It has been flying recently. It has been kept outside 50% of the last 10 years unfortunately.
I am supposed to be receiving photos and some numbers today, phone number, engine times, etc etc. Will post it on this forum for all to see. I am not part of this transaction; I will be posting the seller's contact information for direct contact. My only interest is to get this Taylorcraft into the hands of someone who will be a good home for it.
