Re: Not a T-Craft; '85 El Camino For Sale
Thanks Jim. I have too many vehicles. Three cars, two motorcycles, one aircraft and one boat. Getting another new car in Jan, so really need to move some. The ebay address for anyone that may be interested is:
I guess that will bring you there, if not, I can try again. Yep, tried it and it seems to work.
Cold day here today, frost on the ground and temps in the mid 30'sLee

Re: Not a T-Craft; '85 El Camino For Sale
Sharp looking rig! Years ago I had a 73 El Camino, followed by a 79 GMC Caballero (the GMC version of an El Camino). Really liked the 79 except for the cornball "Diablo" paint package. The 305/automatic combination always seemed a bit gutless to me though. Bought them both used, I was ready to buy another (my first new car!) about 1987 or so but they quit making them- never could figure out why, they seemed to be plenty popular. ended up buying an S10 pickup, not too bad a rig but not an El Camino.
Sounds like a pretty extensive rebuild,I'm curious what price you want to get for it, Duck. I see the bidding is up to $2500 and the reserve isn't met yet.

Re: Not a T-Craft; '85 El Camino For Sale
Eric, trying to get at least or a little better than half what I have in it. I have about 20K invested in the Elky. Runs and looks great. The 305 while a little weak in power will run forever. When I did the restoration, I was going to put a 350 Crate engine, but decidd to wait until the 305 gave me some problems or started using oil. The Crate engines are new from the factory and sell for about $1250, so it isn't the cost. The damn 305 just won't quit. Now with fuel at the prices they are, I had thought if I were to replace the engine, it might well be with another 305. Same price
It is in my garage, covered, and I use it very seldom. However when I do, I receive lots of compliments. And as you, many have had one many years ago or their father had one when they were kids.
I am hoping it get into the teens (price). If not then I will keep it a while longer and put it back on E-Bay, or maybe someone might have a nice T-Craft or something they may want to trade. I am open for suggestions. As soon as it is off e-bay.
