Another option might be to use a 1 1/2" OD axle sleeve adapter that fits over the Taylorcraft tapered axle. Grove (http://www.groveaircraft.com/index.html) P/N 5054

The adapter is mentioned as part of this 337 to install Grove wheel and brakes: http://www.taylorcraft.org/docs/grov...20complete.pdf

I have one, of what appears to be an original Federal ski, Taylorcraft axle adapter. I will sell this one for $25 plus postage. Looks like something that will be easy enough to duplicate.
