I have placed an ad on Barnstormers to sell my '46 BC12-D1 "Ace", s/n 10074, registration NC44274. It was test flown 10-4-1946 by WAC, License #34671. I have owned it since 1978, am the second owner, and have all logs since new. It was rebuilt completely, finished in 1990. It received "Best Taylorcraft" award at Oshkosh 1991, only year I flew it out there. It has been well stored and meticulously maintained, always hangared, these subsequent years. It has approx. 765 hours total time since new, 499 hrs since major overhaul and airframe rebuild. It is covered with Ceconite, with Randolph butyrate dope finish on all fabric surfaces, and enamel on metal parts. Nice light weight, under 750 lbs. Still shines nicely. Sealed struts were installed in 2008 from Alaska Airframes, under their STC and with Form 337 documentation. Prop is a metal McCauley 1-B-90 CM74-45, installed in 1995 with 0 hrs. since overhaul at that time, and is installed in accordance with Taylorcraft T/C A-696 and McCauley letter, and with Form 337. Cruises an easy 95 mph indicated. Paint scheme is original, Red with Black, and fiberglass wheel fairings of the Taylorcraft design, purchased from Mrs. Ferris, are about the only departure from original look (but they really look nice on a Taylorcraft!). Instrumentation is bare bones like original. New shielded Slick magnetos and harness installed a few years ago, with "Ercoupe" cups on top plugs so no cowl bumps, and an external antenna make for static-free radio communications. Starting is very easy. Checkout, and/or tailwheel endorsement available. Can deliver for expenses. Many more photos than in ad can be e-mailed, but the airplane must truly be seen to be appreciated. Basesd at KAOO (Altoona, Pennsylvania) airport. For more info, call 814-931-8035 or e-mail me at: [email protected]
