Thinking about buying a Harbor Freight sandblasting system...know my shop compressor is not enough...know of an gas motor unit my father in law has in his junk ...is there a rule of thumb for figuring out the CFM a compressor will produce by looking at the size of the cylinders? ...have a '39 cub frame in need to assess its integrity. Thanks, Lynn

    Re: sandblasting

might be a lot easier just to take it to someone else to get it done, then you wouldn't have any problems about possible epa crap. But on the other hand you really don't need to buy a whole system-all you really need is a sand blasting gun, a hose long enough to let you move around some and a pail that you put the sand feeder hose in and fill with sand. That way a air compressor with a 20 to 30 gal tank would be enough, pressure goes down to much just stop for a min and go at it again. You could rent a air compressor for a day and be done with it.

Thanks...the blasters I've used around here can do a lot of damage quickly...I'd like to take more time and use more control...

Be really careful of breathing silica sand. You can get silicosis, it is not something to ignore and is devastating to get.
