  • Wheel pant hardware

    Greetings Tribe,

I'm looking for a pair of the hex nuts to attach the wheel pants to the axles. Anyone got a couple of spares?

    Thanks,

    Re: Wheel pant hardware

    Hi Glen,
I have a couple that came off of my TCraft.
Send me a PM with your address and I'll send them to you (if you still need them).
They have been on my tcraft since I bought it 20 years ago.
But I just got new wheels and I realize that I'll never put wheelpants back on the airplane as long as I own it.

      Re: Wheel pant hardware

I didn't know what you were talking about when you were talking about a wheel nut to mount your wheel pants. My Taylorcraft had a piece of 3/8 steel tubing with a washer welded to it and a small nut welded in the center. There was a hole drilled through the 3/8 tubing in line with the axle nut cotter pin. The cotter pin went through the axle and tubing and held the axle nut and tubing which was the mount for the wheel pant. When you mounted the wheel pant you installed a bolt and washer in the outside of the wheel pant and screwed it into the 3/8 tubing nut.

        Marv,

I have an even more different version of what Tim's is. Shorter, for sure, and older. There area a couple ways of mounting the pants I have seen, though some are undoubtedly for aftermarket pants and not necessarily the originals.
        Cheers,
        Marty
