Just to help, you will be looking for an L-2A or L-2B. Much more difficult to find as they only produced 490 'B' models and obviously most of them are not around anymore. It took me awhile to find my 'B' a few years ago. It sucks the 'M' is only five pounds over LSA because there are a lot more of those around. I will keep an eye open as I am sure others will chime in. Good luck with your search!!!
    Cheers,
    Marty

Keep your eye on Barnstormer.com. There have been several LSA L-2s on that site over the last year. I was considering selling mine but since I am rebuilding and upgrading the engine, I will probably keep it for a while longer.

Add to your list all Tandems with serial numbers from 4000 to 4199 and serial numbers 6000 to 6253. They have a gross weight of 1250 pounde. THe 6000 block are the converted TG-6 gliders and were given the same gross weight as the early tandems. They are straight backs ( no greenhouse ). Most of the early ships were not L-2s but were DC-65,DL-65 and DF-65s. BTW all tandems after sn 4200 were DCO-65s execpt for the gliders which were ST-100s. Dick

          Re: Wanted L2 LSA approved

Does FAA recogonize any distinction between the various L-2 models or are they all DCO-65s? I think the L-2M's didn't start until around S/N 5166. I'm presuming the DCO-65 encompasses the L-2A's and -B's, as well as all the L-2M's.

My 'B' was a DCO-65, but an 'M' is still outside of LSA. The FAA does indicate in their on-line info what is LSA and what is not. And they use the 'A', 'B' and 'M' designations, along with the earlier models the military took into inventory. Here is the list for the 'military' models and the link: http://www.faa.gov/aircraft/gen_av/l...tingModels.pdf
