  • DC-65 aileron blueprint

A customer brought me a left aileron to rebuild for his DC-65. It is not the same as a BC12 aileron. I need to fabricate most of it and would like to buy a copy of ANY Taylorcraft aileron blueprint for reference material. Does anyone have a PDF copy they can e-mail? I've been trying to get a copy from Forrest, but I suspect his computer has been putting my last few e-mails in the "junk" folder. I'll give him a call next week.

    Thanks-
    Jason

    Re: DC-65 aileron blueprint

    Jason:

I think the L-2 aileron is a lot like the DC aileron. Maybe you could use the L-2 drawings to rebuild your DC aileron.

I got a set of L-2 drawings a few years ago on CD. A great tool, I used them as reference for my BC12-D rebuild project. The print quality varies a bit, but most are usable.

I've lost track of who I got the L-2 CD's from, but someone on the forum will know.

      Re: DC-65 aileron blueprint

Well guys, I'm still trying to come up with a blueprint for Any Taylorcraft aileron but specifically a DC-65. I've not had any luck getting in touch with the foundation. I'm guessing Forrest is on vacation. The other option is to find a serviceable one. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you and Happy New Year!

        Jason,

Is it an aluminum or wood aileron?

From the L-2 blueprints Forrest and the foundation have are these two plus many others. Try e-mailing Forrest at [email protected] and put your Taylorcraft Foundation # in the subject line.

          Thanks Ron,

Its like the first one, the faded picture. About the middle of November I did have some e-mail conversations with Forrest and requested a set of the drawings but have not been able to get in touch with him since. I've also tried calling and left a phone message. The airplane is a metal wing spar DC-65. I need to fabricate the wood aileron spar, LE and TE skins, tip bow, and posibly a couple of ribs.

          Happy New Year

I am still here , you only need the specific prints ; not the whole set... now I see it is a Metal spar ship.... like I mentioned we have ailerons complete , I don''t think the paid up TF# showed up in the first set of e-mails , yes I have been away and popped back a bit for Christmas and to plow this mess we now have in Ohio. I got the newsletter out and am going into the Airport office on Jan 5th. bye Forrest

              Re: DC-65 aileron blueprint

              Hey Forrest,

Thanks for replying, I'll buy an aileron and re-up with the dues if you can call me when you get to the office on the 5th. I've left a few messages on your answering machine. By the way I think the greeting recording is all screwed up on your answering machine. I left a few messages anyway.

              Regards-
