  • L2's out there?

    The manufactured numbers are in print of how many they made but how many are still out there? I belong to another L2 site with about 20 L2's on it (msn group). Is there a place on this site to list and show all the L2's out there?

    The FAA sites will give you all the currently registered ships.

    Remember that the L-2 (Y0-57) is very rare.

    there are a lot of L-2A , L-2B & L2M .... but have to be registered as D models.....

    WE did all this a while back for the Owner's Club in 1995 at that time we had : DC-65 , 60 ships
    DCO-65 , 269 ships
    DF-65 , 9 ships
    DL-65 , 1 ship

      Thanks for the info from 1995. Does this site have away to show all the 279 L2's you talked about??? Maybe a L2 picture page? . Some times a pictures is worth a thousand words.

        Model D stuff

        well you could go to the membership part and check out each profile for what they own. there are really about 380 plus ships out there, many not registered. That is the reason I started the thread you are on , stay on it and see what happens. This site is BY & FOR the membership do what you want with it ( within reason) ; ROME was not built in a day.
        Dick Huish built a data base in 1990 that shows them all, there is a Vintage book here at the Foundation with hard copy of all owners. Stop by......
        Why don't you tell us all about "Chipmunk".

        Did you mean on that one post that you DO tailwheel check outs or you are looking for check outs.

        ( Braceville is a neighbor airport about 15 mins from Alliance) .

          Chipmunk

          Chipmunk started it life as a L2B serial #L5033 and 43-458 at the Taylorcraft factory in Alliance Ohio 1943 Then in 1945 the Defense Plant Corporation sold it to Jack Funk in Sedalia Mo. Mrs Jack Funk instructed in the aircraft. Next in 1946 it makes it back to Illinois, next in 1947 back to Ohio were it still stays. Then in 1951 The Pressurized cowl (l2m) and Fuselge conversion streamlined turdle deck was installed. Not sure when it got the name but in 1971 it shows a new Conite Cover and I think this is when the repair to the Chipmunk damage was done. My partner and I picked it up last year from Don Shingler. I was finally able to log about 70 hours in it last year and what a treat. We hope to put it back to the L2B look. Now Forest what do you know about Chipmunk?

                  update on Mike

                  Mike has been using the english wheel and does any one known if has started to produce the L2 Cowl??
