So I started to rebuild my seriously whooped engine baffles and I'm having trouble figuring out the proper dimensions. All my stuff looks like it's been in a fire and it's so badly bent and patched it's hard to know what it is supposed to look like.

Is there a set of drawings or even better some templates I can use to make new baffles?

    Jason,

You could even approach the factory, I'm sure I've seen some photographs of BC12 baffles lying around.

My first attempt at duplicating my old worn out baffles ( front and side pieces ) sorta worked. The old stuff is so trashed it is difficult to get the proper dimensions from them, or even know what they are supposed to look like. There are no straight lines or right angles on what came off the plane, a bazillion rivet holes, 2-3 patches on each piece. What a mess! My plane has a Cont. A65 engine with a front nose bowl from a Lyc. powered bird. Anyone know if there are any differences beside the dipstick hole in the top? Anyone have a pic of the plane with the cowling off showing the proper shape/installation of the engine baffles???

        Your input is always appreciated.

          Jason -

Are you flying down for the MMV flyin? My buddy Mark will have his bc-12 65 there. I believe that he rebuilt his baffles a winter or two ago. We will be at the south west end of the field. If I recall correctly, Allen Harstine will be there as well. Bring your camera.

If you fly down, give me a call on my cell 503.330.2647. I'll be there Friday afternoon and Saturday. I might camp out on Saturdy night. I know that Mark will.

Got the pics and it really helps answer some questions. If you don't mind I'll keep trying with what I have for now. I know I can do it as long as I can get the right info. IF not I'll buy those beauties you made!

                  Thanks

                    Jason,
Heard about Duvall Fest , from thoes at MMV.

Sorry that I could not make it then.
Please let us know well in advance for the next one.

Just arrived home from MMV. Will drop off the wife and dry out things then head out again about Wednesday

I was unable to catch up with Carl Ellis, although, I did see his plane land and depart.

                      HI David

Sorry I missed you. I assume that you saw Mark, Allen, and the Baxter boys.

I was at MMV for most of Friday. Got there around 8 on Saturday and left around 11:30. I thought about camping out but I'm glad I didn't. Dusty and hot Friday, and I assume cold and muddy Saturday night and Sunday.

It looked like a tough flight home today. A flight of Chipmunks flew low over the house heading north and back again about 10 minutes later. Probably couldn't make it over the west hills. The ceiling looked to be considerably less than 1000'.

                        Carl,
Yes, I seen MR. & MRS. Mark and son, Allen and the Baxter boys and a young man by the name of Adam Wright from the Tri -Cities area. He bought his '40, two months ago. Flew in with two friends, each with a Piper Cub. But , his big wide grin that would not come off his face said that he was very happy! And another gentelman from the Tacoma area.

The wx was as you said. Sunday, we had an window open around 1330. So we broke camp and loaded up and was in the air by 1400 and landed KLS @ 1458. 800- 1400 AGL.

Hope to see you soon. Planning a trip to CAL in about a week or two.
