  • Pre-war vs. Post-war cowling differences

What are the differences between my 1940 BC-65 pressurized cowling and a 1946 BC-12D cowling? I'm looking at a post war FWF and was curious how it would work with my pre-war boot cowl.
1940 BC-65 that needs minor work...

I know the boot Cowel from the later BC 12 s will not fit a open cowl 1940 not sure about the engine cowl but educated guess says no. Someone else chime in here ?

The boot cowl that I am looking at is also for an enclosed cowling. I just wanted to make sure since I found a nice cowling from a 46 bc-12d.

Couple things you will note. The door hinge cut outs on the '40 boot cowl verses the cut outs for the '46 boot are located differently. The closed cowl boot cowl has a couple support tabs welded to the two fuselage tubes just above the gas tank. Open cowl firewall is much narrower than the closed cowl. Windshields are totally different even between the closed cowl '40 and the closed cowl '46. I have a '40 closed cowl boot cowl that could be made to work, if interested. Too big to ship. It is in the Indianapolis area.
