  • shoulder harness STC/337

Well it is annual time and sad news, found metal in the screen. Bummer!
Would like to install shoulder harnesses. Is there an STC out there for a 1946 BC12D? If so, would appreciate all info.

    ps.
the above appears to say: ( to hell with the metal, put in harnesses)
    but it aint so!

    David -

I have a 337 for shoulder harness in my F-19. Are you still in Longview? If you can fly over to Chehalem (17S) tonight around 5:30 I will be there (I'm flying the 172 at 6pm) if you want to look at my installation. I can give you a copy of my paper work. You can call me at work 503.620.6601 x6029 if you want to talk or on my cell phone at 503.330.2647.

BTW - are you going to fly down to the Taylorcrft Rendenzvous on May 14,15,16 in Columbia CA?

        David -

I will be out flying the Taylorcraft after work and probably won't get home until after 9 or so. You can try my home number 503.643.2274.

The FAA backed off on a lot a few years ago on the hassle of adding a shoulder harness to your airplane. Check around.

This does not mean you can be silly in how you do it, but that the paperwork and approval process is a lot simpler.

There is a "best practices" way to add it to your tcraft. Maybe someone here can post a drawing.

good luck, and its a great idea to put it in.

I seem to remember something like an advisory circular that was put out. Does that ring any bells with anybody?

Yep, there is a bunch of info on the FAA website. I'll see if I can find it.

                  Found It....Pretty Good Information!!!

Don't need the 337, may not need the major repair, probably just a minor with an A/P signoff.
