You know you have got the airplane bug bad when your rental criteria for your lodging on a 1 month business trip revolves around shop space. I have to spend almost 5 weeks in Oklahoma City in March/April and plan to bring my tail surfaces and landing gear and get them through silver, and my engine to assemble. Got to keep it going!

Got It Bad
Eric,
That's not too bad, that's just dedication.I'll tell ya bad.
When I was 20 or 21 years old my father,my uncle, and I were working in construction(they still do,my father owns part of the company)away from home.We were working long hours and had been gone for 2 months and knew it would be at least 5 or 6 months before we could take a week off to go home and get the airplane(we were working in Montana,a hard non stop 2 day drive and only got off on sundays). We started wondering around the local airports after work and on weekends. One day we found a Cessna 140 setting in an old hanger at the end of a small grass field. It didn't take long to find out who owned it and we bought it very cheap. It had been setting with new paint and fabric(fabric wings)for about 5 years because the top of the engine failed its last annual. So we pulled the engine and did a 2-3 week long major overhaul to a C-90 right there in the motel room of the Super 8.We kept it out there and flew it for almost 2 years before bringing it home to stay.
My uncle at the time was not a pilot but always loved to fly and did a good job even before we bought the C-140.By the time the job was finished my uncle was a private pilot with almost 200 hours. Now he has over 1000 hours and still owns the pretty little C-140 named Super 8.It even has the name "Super Eight" wrote on each side of the cowling.

Kevin- Great story. I have a classmate that is bringing his Schweitzer 1-26 fusealge to recover as well. I should be pretty decent at it by the end of class.Eric Minnis
