  • Removal of 3M Sloshing Compound

What's the best method to remove this stuff from a fuel tank? Thanks. h

Howard, you might consider the info in this article...the tests done in this accident report talk about several variations or "mixes" (like Jet A and Prist) that might help you.

The way I did it a number of years ago was to drain the tank and disconnect from carb at valve and plug. I then poured in a gallon of MEK, sealed the tank inlet, and let it sit for a couple days. All the sloshing compound was disolved my the MEK or the MEK fumes. Drain the tank and ventilate well before reconnecting to carb and adding fuel.

I did it the same way but, I put an air hose in the tank set to a slow rate to keep the MWK moving. Worked great! Dick
