  • Tundra tires

I recently saw an ad of a Taylorcraft for sale. It had "29 inch approved tires". Is this possible? I was under the impression that the cub was the only aircraft that could have the "tundra tires".
What is required to get them approved on a Taylorcraft?
I currently own a Tripacer (its for sale) but plan to buy a Taylorcraft after the Tripacer sells.

Yes, they could be approved. It would most likely be a field approval and that's just fine. I've had tundra tailwheels field approved for lots of aircraft, and even some tundra tires on the mains. AC 23.733-1 deals with tundra tires, and it's great reading for tundra tire operations and approvals.

Let me tell you that once you try a set of the Alaska Bush Wheels you get spoiled really quick. Like landing on marshmallows. They are worth the price they charge for them. Sure hope they get the STC for the Tcraft soon. I was told they need a few copies of previous 337's showing approved installs on Taylorcrafts before they can move foreword with the STC. Any care to share a copy of their 337???
