    There is another part that is 28 & 27/64th + or - 1/8th..... Honest Injun!!
    Use the butt plates always or you have a whole nest of problems....and it is STRONGER.

      OK gang, after several days of visiting cabinet shops, I took my spars to the most recommended shop for this type of work. There example cuts looked perfect. But once they cut mine, the radius is not as smooth as I had hoped it to be. Are there any limits on this? I wouldn't call it chipped, but the radius is rough.

      Any recommendations?

        If you are concerned about the weakness from the "chipped" radius, then try adding one thin layer of bidirectional fiberglass cloth between the spar and the butt plate doubler on both sides. Run the glass cloth out about 3 inches beyond the radius. Use about 6 ounce glass cloth, and whatever laminating epoxy you were going to use to glue the doubler anyway. Clamp the doublers and glass cloth together, squeezing out most of the epoxy. Put the glass cloth on at a 45 degree orientation to the spar axis.
