  • fuselage stringer spacers

    Hello;
    I'm recovering the fuselage and tail of a BC12D. I need the stringer (?) spacer block retaining springs. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Re: fuselage stringer spacers

    Since these springs only hold the block in place until the covering is shrunk in place, they are not exactly a critical item. A few minutes with needle nose pliers will make a very acceptable spring out of a hardware store spring that will do the job. The spring display at any box store or Ace Hardware will have springs that are extremely close to the size you need. If you find longer springs you can cut them. If the windings are closely spaced you can stretch them. If you want to corrosion proof them you can dip them in primer.
    Your biggest concern will be to find enough springs in one visit to the store. Usually there are only a handful of each size on display. I have also found a bag of assorted springs at a box store that had several darn near perfect-match springs for this task.
    Best Regards,
    Mark Julicher

      Or figure out what you need and go to McMaster Carr's website.

        I just started using this site a year or so ago and have been very happy with them.
