Can anyone tell me if the tailwheel leaf spring on the F22B model is the same as on the BC12D. Got an F22B in on maintenance and the leaf spring could do with changing but the Aircraft Spruce catalogue only shows springs for the BC12D. With the weight difference between the BC12D and the F22B I would expect to see a diffent leaf spring required.

Re: F22B Tailwheel Leaf Spring
Spring leafs are easy to re-arch you can do it on a large vise. First set the leaf on something and draw a line of the arch, use this for a base to check how much more arch you put back in to it .Now set the leaf on the vise with the jaws open use a large hammer and strike the spring between the jaws of the vise slid the spring back and forth hitting it with the hammer do main leaf first check it on base line to see how much arch you have put back in it then match the other two leafs to the main.1940 BLT/BC65 N26658 SER#2000

Re: F22B Tailwheel Leaf Spring
They are the same springs, tail wt. did not go up that much.... My book shows Leaf Spring Set B-562-3-4 for all Models on the TC 1A9 and the TC 696 . Yes you ( have the owner do it) could re-arch.Taylorcraft Foundation, Inc

Re: F22B Tailwheel Leaf Spring
Thanks for the advice folks, I'm not sure the boss of our maintenance shop is into re-shaping as the cost of a new set of springs won't break the bank. I had measured the current F22 springs against a set of BC12D springs and they appeared to be the same size but it's always worth having it confirmed.TF#405
