  • Exhaust Stack for F22A

    Hi all,

Does anyone have an exhaust stack ( Starboard side ) for an F22A? if so how much? mine has corroded and split on the mild steel down pipe just before the stainless steel part of the exhaust box. I am trying to get mine repaired but will need a new one before long. I am not sure if it is the same exhaust for the F19 / 21 series?

Exhaust repaired by inserting stainless sleeve to damaged area and rewelding by licensed welder at Nuneaton UK. Total cost of reair £320! Interestingly had the exhaust been beyond repair due to UK CAA Regs they would have apparently been unable to manafacture a new unit! Where then for a new one in view of current spares situation? Imagine having your car written off because you cannot get an exhaust for it, rediculous or what! I know what I will do next time! all these reg's for basic items hardly encourages people to stay legal! but at least I am back flying again!

I had a response from one other person who had a similar problem in exactly the same spot ( where the muffler edge goes around the exhaust ) It is quite a close fit and looked to me like the muffler may have vibrated against the pipe under certain conditions so worth checking out if you have a F22 or similar. The fix seems to be to get a stailess steel insert welded in but the welding company told me you need to check just back from the weld joint regularly as the process can weaken the pipe at that spot.
