  • A65 parts for sale

I am heading over to cashmere Wa to look at some a65 parts for sale on monday the 21st. I will take pics and get as much info possible. The kid selling this stuff sounds desperate for $$ and almost everything is yellow tagged. Is there anything in particular you guys want or need? The trip is mostly just to satisfy my curiosity.

Dear Jason,I sent my cylinders off last week and am waiting for the verdict on whether or not they're going to make the cut. I'll know this week if they're servicable, and what it will cost to get them overhauled. I would be very interested in these four if mine aren't servicable. I realize you are going right away, and I can't move on them right away, but if you could find out the details including cost maybe by next week I'll be in a better position.

          Thanks,

I was able to physically inspect this A65 that is disassembled and for sale. The taper-shaft crank is M .010, the cam had been reground, 7 of the lifter bodies are overhauled, the cam and crank gears were inspected, The con-rods are the later type with the oil squirter holes in the caps. All these parts are Yellow Tagged.

The cylinders and pistons have been disassembled and are + .015 and have not been inspected yet. There are 6 barrels and 4 pistons/pins. All of the rockers are there. Only 3 rocker shafts. Only 3 valve covers. All 8 hydraulic tappets are there. One complete intake system minus the carburetor. The case looks good but has the wrong logs ( the previous owner sold the wrong case to another customer, the case is the only part that came from a different engine. ) No accessory cover. One Bendix S4LN-8 mag no impulse, and one Eisman A4M with impulse. Both mags have the gears on them. No ignition harness. One set of oil pump gears. One 4qt short neck oil sump w/dipstic. One oil pickup tube. One tach drive housing.

All the above is available for only $2700 + shipping The crank alone is $1300

Jason, Thanks for the information. I have a line on a crank here, and those cylinder assemblies don't seem better off than mine. A local has an A-65 for sale with 1047 smoh, with compression in the 60's. Bendix mags but no carb--came off a Cub. What would you guess it's worth, ball park? He's asking $2500.

I would buy it just for the bottom end alone. Yellow tagged cranks are selling for $1300 - $1400. IF the crank is already a M.010 I would think twice. Also why is the compression in the 60's that's is too darn low in my opinion.

The seller is going to search his logs, but I would guess the engine is run out. All jugs are about the same indicating to me that it's been taken care of but is just high time needing an overhaul. Basically it's a core worth about 1200 I think. I have a yellow tagged crank lined up 10 under for 1000. That's the cheapest I've seen, so I'm going to go ahead and major mine.

I could use the magnetos if you decide to buy the crank and part out the rest.
