  • Clip Wing T question

I need a suggestion of how to keep the door open without crunching the lift strut & then close it from the cockpit. Thanks for any ideas

    Re: Clip Wing T question

Fred- I made a little spring loaded bracket that was similar to a cabinet catch- it was attached to the strut and when the door hit it, it would catch the bottom lip of the door. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures but if you call the owner if N43740 they may be willing to get you a photo.

What kind of clipwing do you have?

    Good luck-Eric

Eric, I own 43740 now, both of the spring clips eventually broke, might be flutter in flight, don't know. How much would you want to build me 2 more ?

wow- you own ole' Amelia. . . . . my daughter and I both cried when we sold it. That is an amazing airplane. I'm sitting here looking at a picture of it with my family over our mantle. Lots of very good memories with that plane.

"Amelia II" is in the shop now- I'm finishing the second wing and hope to be covering my March. I brought my engine home today- things are finally coming together. It has an IO-320, inverted fuel and oil, huge ailerons, all wood wing, and should be pretty darn light. It will be the same colors as yours but with scallops instead of starburst.

Did you keep pieces of the stops? If you did I'll be glad to bend you up some- just pick up the material cost.

Let me know when you want to get rid of that old beater ;-)

Old Beater ? Everyone says she's the most gorgeous airplane at the airport.
Anyway, I have both peices of the left, I think, latch, and 1 peice, tip missing, of the other. Where can I send them for duplication? I be both greatly indebted and pay you some $$.

Fred- send them to me at

Don't worry about paying- I'll take it by a flight if we ever are at the same place.
