  • Master cylinder installation

Had any one used Swick's brake master cylinder installation? I'm trying to decide on how to do my brakes. I like heal brakes and swicks instl looks light but hard to set up?
    Thanks

Tom- I assume you are talking about the mounting location in the gear legs. . . .I'm doing it now. It is really pretty easy. I'll snap some photos when I get done.

      Hi Eric,
im intrested in seeing how effective it was. effort to brake action? controlability? if the cable system can generate enough pressure?

We used the Swick STC system on a BC12D clip wing with 180 HP; it would hold completely with very little heel pressure. MY signature alnding was a snap or two on final to a touch down , taxi in with tail in air and stop with tail in air and bow to crowd.... It is a good system . Full power would skid the tires .

2 to 1 or 2.5 to 1 are the correct mechanical advantage range. The Stock brake and cable gives around 1 1/5 to 1 so the lever only needs a hint of mechanical advantage to get the pressure correct.

I had a Cole clipwing with a big lycoming and hydraulic brakes. . . . I used to taxi back to the hanger with the tail up. . . . it was lots of fun and always got lots of looks from the nosedragger guys.

My entire set up has been really expensive to get done but I know I'll be alot happier with it. I think by the time I get done I'll have $2700 in it all. The 4inch extended gear was the most expensive but will be well worth it. All my other clipwing hit the tailwheel long before the mains in a 3 point. I kept the track the same and just made it sit a little higher like a monocoupe.

            Forrest- I sent you a PM about some wing fittings. . . . . .
