  • N64579 wants to know !

N64579, a clip wing, O200 powered, non electric Tcraft wants to know which mods were done on it so many years ago. It was converted to a single seat, stick control, only 1 set of rudder pedals, wings shorted to a total span of about 30 feet, and uses cables and pulleys for aileron controls. Wood spar wings with metal ribs... control servo on left hand elevator. Built around 1979 and flies so nicely... It's owner is sorta ignorant on the details of the various clip wing conversions, so he needs a little (lot ?) of education on this nice flying bird... any help much appreciated by N64579

    Thomas,
There is a clip-wing section on this Forum, although it doesn't see a lot of use. Have you ordered a complete set of your bird's paperwork from the FAA? That should show everything that's ever been done on an STC or 337. Here's the link to that: http://162.58.35.241/e.gov/ND/airrecordsND.asp

I think you have "Trick T Cart" This plane was flown by Warren Parrish for a few years if I have the N# right. It was a cole conversion. I think Warren even flew a few airshows with it a few years back. I am in Burlington and know a little about clipwings if you want to get together.

Flying is easy- to go up you pull back, to go down you pull back a little farther.

Thanks, Vincent, but I forgot to mention that 64579 is an experimental version, so the FAA wouldn't have much on it... nice to know about that link tho !

Thanks for the info, Eric. You are correct in that Wayne owned it for a while... a Cole conversion hmmm... it currently resides with me at Eagles Landing near Pittsboro... we'll have to get together sometime.

        Thanks,

        Thomas

Thomas- Just got back from Florida- I'm here all weekend (8/3) building a new barn. Give me a call if you want to get together. I have a strip about 2 miles from my house. 336-227-8941

            Hey Eric,

sorry for the late reply - things are pretty hectic this summer. It'd be great to meet up with you sometime and get some education on T-crafts. My number is 919-542-7590 should you ever find time to drop in here in Pittsboro.

You'll have to give me some GPS info on your field, or let me know if it's on the chart.... Eagles Landing is on the chart, so .... you know where I live !

I'll be speaking in Sanford at the airport this Saturday to a group of sport pilots. I'm going to fly the Tcraft over if the weather cooperates- it would be great to get a few other planes over- starts at 10am.
