    Re: Flaps on clipwing

Hmmm, (flaps on a clip-wing) ( breasts on a Tom cat) . Real close comparision.
The flaps on the F-22 were concocted from squared off ailerons and the same hinges as the aileron with litle funky extension. The factory would have them in stock. A agree about the military approach and slipping on final, do it about every time.

Let me ask your opinions,do I need flaps on a amfib float plane? I thought a flatter approach would be better when landing on pavement.Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Eric

I THINK...(I don't KNOW) that you don't need flaps. The T-Craft is pretty easy and stable. I agree with paulness as for operating proceedure. Trim it way up, across the threshhold at 60, then just ease off the throttle, which is at one quarter, till it glides on. If you have 1500 feet or more, it should not be a problem. Question: Did Duane Cole have flaps? Probably not. Then again, Duane was not on floats! I'm told the clip wing is really fun to fly. Wish I had one! JC

My experience (500+ hours in clipwing Taylorcrafts) has shown me that there is no reason at all to put flaps on a clipwing. It is not the floater a stock Tcraft can be when you do not manage the approach speed properly, a slip has you coming down quickly, much faster than the stock airplane. I just can't see any reason for them. . . . . .

Flying is easy- to go up you pull back, to go down you pull back a little farther.
