I have an engine DER question. I am assisting the Gulf Coast wing of the CAF with approval on a B-17 exhaust modification. I have a letter from the Houston FSDO stating what must be done, I have drawings of the work performed, and I think I understand what needs to be done next.

However, I believe we really need a formal DER opinion for the FSDO. The work being done is excellent, but the mechanic is not FAA savvy.

So question to you: Can I come see you ASAP and show you the papers I have and get your opinion? Would you be willing to help out - I don't mean for free, just state your price and I'll take it to the CAF squadron. I think they should pay properly. I will drive or fly to your location day or night to help these guys.

The B-17 has just completed a 6 year re-build and it needs this last detail so they can fly it to the B-17 reunion among other things.
