Sorry about not replying sooner but I just saw that I had a message. It's a little hard to tell without actually checking but it sounds like you have the cable tension about right. I think the 1/4" droop then coming up even with the wing is where it should be and if it feels right I wouldn't think they would need to be any tighter. Glad you have found a place to check your struts for a reasonable amount and they are OK.
