From DJ's thread on prop logs:
"Frankly, I'm tired of government officials not knowing the true answers to common issues. I've been trying to get a straight answer from the BATFE the past few weeks regarding some Class III firearms I own from the three different officials I have talked to I get three different answers. And in that case if I were to do what two of them had said and they were inaccurate I could be looking at 30 months in federal prison. Typical government $hit"
That comment is absolutely correct and justified. The local gun shop owner, who has been in business forever, has at least 3 massive binders full of gun laws. Takes up an entire shelf.
The public is supposed to know all laws and can be arrested if they violate one. Not being aware of the law is NOT an excuse ever in court. What makes it worse is that attorneys or government officials can and often do give you the wrong information.
Last time I got bad advice like that it cost me $10,000 in attorneys fees before it was corrected. I won, but got nothing for my trouble and that much money takes a long time to save from a working guy's income .
This country has abundant resources and manpower but stuff like this, along with other worse problems, is really turning the USA into a mess.
