Who knew? Last year I looked all over for old-fashioned black cloth friction tape, and ended up special-ordering several rolls from an electrical contractors supply store.
Then I was talking with Illinois Taylorcraft restorer Tim Mickel at the MAAC Brodhead fly-in, discussing how to finish off control cable ends. We were raving about the marvelous properties of cloth friction tape, and he casually mentioned how convenient it is that Ace Hardware still stocks it. What?!
Sure enough, in your local Ace Hardware store you'll find a display rack entitled "Electrical Tape Center", with rolls of black cloth friction tape for only $2.49. Is this a great country or what?
