  • Tx AeroSport Aerodrome FLY-in May 19

This weekend will be a FREE BBQ FLY-IN up in North Texas near Sherman at the TxAeroSport Aerodrome. I recently visited Mark Warren at his restoration shop there. These guys are busy with some serious restorations. Currently in the shop they have an Aeronca L-3B in progress, along with a Beech D17S Staggerwing, and a 7EC Champ. Also awaiting restoration are two Taylorcraft L-2's and a Fairchild 24.

The airfield is being developed as an Airpark with really uptown vintage accommodations. This is really a neat place. TxAero Aircraft Services is located on TxAeroSport Aerodrome (X65) in Dorchester, five miles west of Howe, TX. We’re 7nm southwest of Sherman Municipal Airport (KSWI) and 11nm south of North Texas Regional Airport (KGYI, formerly Grayson County Airport). We’re located just north of FM 902, which is an east-west road which intersects the north-south arteries of US-75 at Howe and State Highway 289 (Preston Road) at Dorchester. From US-75, take FM 902 going west for about 5 miles to Dorchester. From 289, take FM 902 going east in Dorchester for about 2 miles. Upon reaching Belden Road, make a turn to the north and the airport will be on your left less than a mile up the road.

It is unlike me to turn down free Barbeque. I really want to go, but we are traveling to visit my son in Kansas this weekend. I figured some of you guys in the North TX / Southern Oklahoma area might like to know about it.
