The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Institute and the Space and Air Museum, will have a "fly-in" for approved aircrafts to participate in the 5th Annual "Become a Pilot" day at the Washington Dulles International Airport located inside the old ADIZ now called SFRA, on June 20th. Saturday
Any Tcraft owners interested, let me know.
We will be flying into one of the most controlled airspaces "without electric system" = no transponder or even two radio will be required from Tcrafters ( I have not asked about other aircrafts) as long as they are identified prior to entering the class bravo and the SFRA and fly with other aircrafts with transponders and two way radios (caravan-formation). Hand held radios are recomended.
Pilot and aircraft must be pre-approved for security reasons. Arrival time is before 0900 and departure by 1600. ADIZ plan must be filed for ingress and egress of the class bravo and the SFRA. Picnic will follow for all pilots (fried turkey) . I could host one or two pilots at my home and/or at our field in Warrenton VA as well as other pilot's homes. Local hotels run at least $150 plus a night.
So far, only one Taylorcraft is registered and approved.
