  • great place to fly to

D79, Dart Airport, Mayville, N.Y. at the top of Lake Chautauqua,N.Y. Lots of taildraggers and gliders on weekends. Mauls, Stearmans, Huskys, T-crafts, Cubs, and on and on. There are about 35-40 taildraggers based there plus 7-8 gliders and a pawnee towplane. Good Sub shop nearby, 100 octane both there and at Jamestown airport. 2800 feet, in good shape (grass) well mowed. Greg Dart owns and operates the airport and has an excellent shop if trouble befalls you. Interesting museum there full ofr model airplanes, old radial engines, pictures of lots of aircraft, etc. Airport open all year but gets rolling in mid May. Three or four flyins each year. Google Dart Airport. Its like flying into a 1945-50 airport! Jim Cooper.
