My wife and I have just returned from a road trip to Florida to visit our kids and grandkids. On the trip down we took a detour and spent an afternoon at the Army Aviation Museum in Ft. Rucker, Alabama. As to be expected the museum caters to rotary wing aircraft although there were quite a few fixed wing airplanes also on display including an L2. As a veteran of the Viet Nam era it brought back a lot of memories and we drank a silent toast to two buddies whose names were on the Viet Nam Memorial wall in the museum. RIP CWO Quentin Beecher and CWO Danny York. It was in my opinion well worth the extra miles (and the burdensome process to obtain a pass to be on Ft. Rucker).
On the way back to Tulsa we stopped at NAS Pensacola and visited the Museum of Naval Aviation, an awesome facility and well worth the trip. I've been to this museum several times and will return for more.
